When you sign-up to Smilenotes you get access to all features for free. We don't ask for your credit card up front, so you'll only be charged when you decide you’re ready. Simply choose a subscription plan when (or before) your free trial ends if you'd like to continue using Smilenotes.
There's no longterm contract for Smilenotes - if you choose the monthly plan you’re free to cancel your subscription any time you like.
Yes. Our subscription payments are managed by Stripe.com who are the industry leader in secure online payments. Stripe is PCI Level 1 compliant (the highest level of online card payment security you can get).
To cancel, simply go to the settings page once you’re logged in and select the 'Manage Subscription tab'. Even when you cancel, you will not immediately lose any of your templates or your data however it is our policy to permanently delete unused accounts older than 90 days unless you have an active subscription.

Yes. It's simple to switch between payment plans anytime you like. When you switch you'll start the new plan immediately and we'll adjust the subscription payment so you only pay for the time spent on each plan.

All patient/client data which you store on Smilenotes will be hosted on physical servers located within the United Kingdom and European economic region.
We may transfer your own personal data (such as your email address and your name) onto servers located in the US and Canada. For example, certain cloud based productivity tools we use save data on servers located in the US.
Smilenotes commits to ensuring such transfers are compliant with applicable data transfer laws, including UK GDPR.
All transmitted data is encrypted using SSL. All patient data (including files you upload to us) is encrypted using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). A full backup snapshot of the primary database is taken once every 24 hours. Uploaded files are backed up once every 24 hours. A full system backup is performed on a weekly basis.

No — your notes are unlimited. Storage limits apply to uploaded files like PDFs, scans, photos and videos.
You can upgrade plan or add storage at any time. Your data stays put — no re-uploading or migration. In fact, the generous storage provided with the Pro and Team plans will last serveral years for most practitioners.
As long as your subscription plan remains active, Smilenotes will not delete your data. Inactive accounts, defined as those without an active subscription or those whose users are no longer active team members on another Smilenotes account, are removed after 90 days in accordance with our privacy policy.
