Our story
Smilenotes was founded in 2015 by dental surgeon Lee McMeeking, after first-hand experience of how time-consuming and repetitive clinical note-writing could be in busy practice.
Existing systems made it hard to write detailed, consistent notes quickly. That frustration led to a simple idea: create a fast, structured way to write high-quality clinical notes without getting in the way of patient care.
Smilenotes began as a lightweight online tool for writing structured clinical notes. Early users valued how quickly they could document consultations clearly and consistently, using profession-specific templates designed around real workflows.
As clinicians from physiotherapy, podiatry, chiropractic, counselling and other allied professions began adopting the platform, Smilenotes evolved into a full practice management system — bringing notes, appointments, and patient files together in one secure workspace.
